Bitter Cold

I wanted to push the boundaries of the sounds that could be made by the instruments I was writing for. In Bitter Cold, I was trying to meld together the use of improvisation and scored music, working with musicians from both classical and contemporary jazz backgrounds. This piece marked the beginning of thinking about sound as a pose to music and about the performative aspect of music.
